22,000 visitors flocked to the show, and fortunately not all of them stopped by our stand!
But during these 3 days, 5 of us, 7 even, were busy full time presenting ANUVAM and its achievements and selling photos and Nepalese handicrafts.
Given the international nature of this Rendez-Vous, we had taken the necessary steps to set up a beautiful stand. It was an opportunity to present the association to a wide audience of frequent travellers, and to raise money for our reconstruction project.
On a panel, we gave a brief presentation of ANUVAM and its achievements, as well as its work with CAPA .
Our photo exhibition attracted many visitors. Jean-Claude had selected 18 of his photos taken in Nepal – most of which had won awards at photographic art fairs – and we had them printed in several copies on professional media.
They were successfully sold for the benefit of our association.
“Why are you here?
Why and how did you come to build houses?
How did you go about it? Do you have any control over the money and how?
Can we make a contribution (financially or by going to Rapcha)?
These were the questions that kept coming up.
A young audience lingered on our stand, very interested in the reconstruction project. Vincent Pena (CAPA), the young site manager, was on hand to provide information.
We were the meeting point for travellers returning to or leaving for Nepal. And everyone agreed: the Nepalese people are very endearing.
Three full days, three tiring days, but three extremely gratifying days.
Our warmest thanks go to
- The organisers of the “Rendez-Vous du Carnet de Voyage”: they chose our association from among many applications. They gave us their full support.
- Danielle, from Thiers: she did the calligraphy at the top of our stand.
- L’Atelier de boutis de St Rémy sur Durolle: they lent us the red fabric that highlighted the photos and gave our stand a sense of unity.
